MAJ Aaron Farnsworth in an instructor with the Simon Center for the Professional-Military Ethic (SCPME) at the United States Military Academy. He teaches MX400 Officership, the superintendent’s capstone course, and is the SCPME hiring officer.

He hails from Anderson, Indiana, where he enlisted in the infantry in 2002. His first assignment was Fort Benning, Georgia, where he served as a Carl Gustaf gunner for the 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. In 2004, he was assigned to the Indianapolis Recruiting Battalion, where he served as a U.S. Army recruiter before transitioning out of the Army in 2006.

MAJ Farnsworth commissioned and branched into military intelligence from the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps in 2014. From 2014-18, he was assigned to the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division at Fort Bliss, Texas. He served as the battalion S-2 of the 4th Brigade Special Troops Battalion, assistant battalion S-2 of the 1st Battalion, 77th Armored Regiment, and a multi-function platoon leader for the 2nd Brigade Engineer Battalion.

From 2018-21, he was assigned to the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colorado, where he served as the brigade assistant S-2 of the 4th Sustainment Brigade and battalion S-2 of the 68th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion. MAJ Farnsworth as deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (2003), Operation Enduring Freedom (2004), Operation Inherent Resolve (2016), and Operation Spartan Shield (2020).

He holds a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Ball State University and a Master of Arts in applied social psychology from Claremont Graduate University.

Awards and decorations include the Combat Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge with Bronze Service Star, Air Assault Badge, German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (Gold), Gold Recruiter Badge, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (four oak leaf clusters), Army Achievement Medal (two oak leaf clusters), Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with campaign star, Iraq Campaign Medal with campaign star and Arrowhead device, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and Overseas Service Ribbon.

MAJ Farnsworth and his wife, Heather, have one child, Lily. They reside in West Point, New York.
