LTC Andrea Kaman is originally from Wakonda, South Dakota. She commissioned as a Distinguished Military Graduate from the University of Wyoming in 2007 and completed the Adjutant General Basic Officer Leadership Course at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, in 2008.
Prior to arriving at West Point, she held numerous leadership and staff positions, most recently serving as the human resources officer in charge (S1 OIC) for the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, at Fort Carson, Colorado. Her previous assignments include serving as the Congressional Defense Fellow in the office of Rep. Marcy Kaptur (OH-9), followed by an assignment as a legislative liaison for the Army in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Before the fellowship, LTC Kaman commanded Charlie Company, 369th Adjutant General Battalion, at Fort Jackson, and served as an AG BOLC instructor at the Soldier Support Institute, also at Fort Jackson. Her first assignments were with the 12th Combat Aviation Brigade in Ansbach, Germany. She served a combat tour in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Her civilian education includes a Bachelor of Science in marketing from the University of Wyoming (2007), a Master of Professional Studies in legislative affairs from George Washington University (2016) and a Master of Business Administration from Columbia Business School at Columbia University (2023). Her military education includes the Command and General Staff College, the Adjutant General Captains Career Course and the Adjutant General Basic Officer Leadership Course.
LTC Kaman’s awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Staff Identification Badge and Parachutist Badge. She is married to Drew Kaman of Lusk, Wyoming, and they have two children.
