LTC Andrew Wilhelm is an academy professor in the Department of Physics & Nuclear Engineering at the United States Military Academy (USMA).

He was commissioned as an armor officer from USMA in 2008. He holds a bachelor’s degree in physics from West Point and a master’s degree and doctoral degree in nuclear engineering from the University of Michigan.

LTC Wilhelm has served in a variety of operational assignments, including as a tank platoon leader and company executive officer in 1-8 IN, 4th Infantry Division, and commander of A and HHT/5-73 CAV, 82nd Airborne Division. He deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation New Dawn, and Operation Inherent Resolve.

Most recently, he served as a robotic and autonomous systems integrator at Army Futures Command in Austin, Texas. At USMA, he taught core physics and served as a course director from 2018 to 2021 and returned as an academy professor in the Nuclear Engineering program in 2025.

LTC Wilhelm’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star (with oak leaf cluster), Meritorious Service Medal (with two oak leaf clusters), Senior Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, and Ranger Tab.
