CPT Brendan Hales is an instructor in the Defense and Strategic Studies Program. He commissioned through the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps at Brigham Young University in 2015.
Upon commissioning into the Chemical Corps, he served as a battalion chemical officer and HHC executive officer in the 2-43 ADA Battalion and as a hazard assessment platoon leader in the 45th Chemical Company at Fort Bliss, Texas.
Upon completion of the Chemical Captains Career Course, he was assigned to the 110th Chemical Battalion at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, where he commanded the 11th Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive Company. After completing command, he served as the group chemical officer in the 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne), also located at JBLM.
CPT Hales holds a Master of Science degree from Missouri State University in defense and strategic studies and is in the process of completing a Doctor of Philosophy in international relations from the Fletcher School at Tufts University.
CPT Hales and his wife, Jennie, have three children.
