MAJ Casey Smith is an instructor and internship coordinator in the Department of English & World Languages at the United States Military Academy (USMA). He is also the deputy director of cadet operations and Study Abroad program manager.
A native of Midway, Utah, he graduated from USMA in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in Spanish. MAJ Smith commissioned as an armor officer and served as a reconnaissance platoon leader and troop executive officer while assigned to 8-1 Cavalry at Joint Base Lewis‑McChord, Washington. In 2017, he attended the Civil Affairs Qualification Course.
MAJ Smith worked with the Panamanian National Police and the Panamanian Department of Education as a civil affairs team leader in Panama. As an operations officer, he deployed to Honduras as a member of the Regional Civil Military Support Element responsible for assisting in the command and control of all special operations forces in Central America and the Caribbean. Later, he served as the liaison for his battalion to the Theater Special Operations Command, Special Operations Command South.
