CPT Christopher Gramling

CPT Christopher Gramling is a space operations officer and instructor in the Department of Systems Engineering (DSE) at the United States Military Academy (USMA) in West Point, New York. He also serves with the Systems Design & Analysis Center at West Point.
He commissioned as an air defense artillery officer from USMA in 2015 with a bachelor's degree in systems management. Gramling holds a master's degree in business administration from Stanford Graduate School of Business and a master's in leadership studies from the University of Texas at El Paso.
Following commissioning, Gramling served in 1st Battalion, 62nd Air Defense Artillery Regiment at Fort Hood, Texas, where he held roles as platoon leader, executive officer, tactical director, and fire control officer in charge. During this time, he deployed to U.S. Central Command in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
After transitioning to functional area 40, space operations, he was assigned to 1st Space Brigade at Fort Carson, Colorado, where he served on one of the Army’s first space control planning teams. He later deployed again to U.S. Central Command in support of Operation Inherent Resolve and subsequently supported U.S. Special Operations Command on a specialized team integrating space, cyber, and special operations capabilities.
Gramling joined the DSE team in July 2025 and currently teaches EM384: Analytical Methods for Engineering Management. He and his wife, Haley, have three children: Lillyanne, Carter, and Emma.
