Major Dan Konopa earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, with honors, from the United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point in 2008. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as an infantry officer and served as a platoon leader and company executive officer in the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division. He went on to command Alpha Company, 3-21 Infantry, at Fort Wainwright, Alaska. After command, he pursued graduate studies at Purdue University, where he completed an M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering. He then spent three years teaching in the Electrical Engineering program at USMA before transitioning into the Army Acquisition Corps as a Functional Area 51 (Acquisition Officer). In this role, he has served as an assistant product manager on the Extended Range Cannon Artillery (ERCA) program and as a capability developer within the Maneuver Support Capability Development Integration Directorate.
