Dr. Gary Jordan is an assistant professor of civil engineering with the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the United States Military Academy (USMA) in West Point, New York.
He received his Bachelor of Science degree in engineering physics from USMA in 1987. His varied educational background includes an MBA with a concentration in finance from the University of Maine, a Master of Arts in economics from the University of New Hampshire, and a Master of Science and Ph.D. in civil engineering with an emphasis on transportation systems engineering from the University at Buffalo–State University of New York.
Dr. Jordan is an active member of the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA). He serves on AREMA’s Education and Professional Development Committee and is a past board member of the Lehigh Valley Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Dr. Jordan has also served at local, state, and national levels through various roles, including town planning board member, state trooper in Maine, and military officer.
Dr. Jordan retired from the military as a lieutenant colonel after 23 years of service, which included active Army, Army National Guard, and Air National Guard affiliations. He is a veteran of Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm, Enduring Freedom, and Iraqi Freedom. Before coming to West Point, he completed a postdoctoral assignment at the Alabama Transportation Institute at the University of Alabama and spent three years as an assistant professor at King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
