MAJ Grace M. Ryan is an instructor of philosophy in the Department of Law & Philosophy at the United States Military Academy (USMA).
After graduating from Indiana University South Bend with a bachelor's degree in psychology, she commissioned as a military police (MP) officer through Officer Candidate School in 2013. As an MP, she served as a platoon leader in the 463rd Military Police Company, 92nd Military Police Battalion. She was then assigned to the U.S. Army Garrison, where she served as a battle captain in the Installation Operations Center and as an operations officer in the Installation Antiterrorism Office.
After attending the Military Police Captains Career Course, Ryan transferred to the Adjutant General Corps and was assigned to the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, as the battalion S-1 for the 10th Brigade Engineer Battalion. During this assignment, in 2018, she deployed to Camp Hovey, South Korea. Prior to her USMA assignment, Ryan worked as the division strength manager for the 3rd Infantry Division.
In addition to her bachelor’s degree, she holds a master's degree in organizational security management from Webster University and a master's in philosophy from Columbia University.
