Dr. Josiah Steckenrider is an assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering (MAE) at the United States Military Academy (USMA). Since 2023, Dr. Steckenrider has been the dynamics and mechatronics thread leader and also serves as an associate director for Dynamics and Robotics in the Center for Applied Engineering. 

He received his bachelor's degree in engineering physics from Taylor University in Upland, Indiana, before completing his master's and doctorate degrees in mechanical engineering at Virginia Tech. In 2018, he spent a semester teaching in the Physics and Engineering Department at Taylor University. After a short postdoc at the University of Virginia following his doctorate, he joined the faculty in the Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering at USMA in 2020. 

He has a diverse research background, including applied optics, biomechanics, and computer vision/image processing, but his core expertise lies at the intersection of dynamics, robotics, controls, estimation, and information fusion.
