CPT Jinny Yan is an instructor in the Department of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science at the United States Military Academy (USMA). She was assigned to USMA as an IMA reservist starting in 2024 after she transitioned out of active duty.
She graduated as a Cyber officer from USMA in 2016 with a bachelor's degree in computer science and Chinese. As part of the MIT Lincoln Laboratory Military Fellowship, she earned her master's in computer science from Northeastern University in 2018.
Her first assignment was as a cyber capability developer in the 782nd Military Intelligence Battalion, where she worked on classified tooling to support Offensive Cyber Operations. In 2020, CPT Yan deployed to Afghanistan to support NATO Special Operations Joint Task Force. In 2021, she was assigned to the SOCOM Global Analytics Platform as a data engineering team lead.
CPT Yan is a graduate of the 17A Cyber Basic Officer Leader Course, 17A Cyber Captain's Career Course, and Air Assault School.
In her civilian capacity, she is a senior analytics engineer at Anduril Industries, where she enjoys working on tackling data challenges across the business.
