MAJ John L. MacArthur, Ph.D.

MAJ John L. MacArthur is a biology instructor in the Department of Chemical & Biological Science & Engineering at the United States Military Academy.
He enlisted in the Army Reserves in 2001 and served as a wheeled vehicle mechanic and an ammunition supply specialist. After supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2004 and 2009, he received an honorable discharge as a staff sergeant. He then pursued a higher education, earning a bachelor's degree in biology and a doctorate in cell and molecular biology from the University of South Carolina.
In 2018, MAJ MacArthur commissioned as a Medical Service Corps officer (71A, microbiologist) and has worked in both clinical and research roles. Most recently, he served as chief of bacteriology at Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii.
