LTC Joshua Dawson is an Army officer, aviator, and technology leader specializing in human-centered computing and cyber research. He currently serves as Executive Officer at the Army Cyber Institute, where he advances applied research in cyber operations, AI, and electronic warfare.
LTC Dawson began his Army career in 2002 as an enlisted field artillery Soldier before commissioning as an Aviation Officer in 2006. A rated AH-64D/E Apache pilot, he has accumulated over 360 combat flight hours across more than 80 missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. His operational experience also includes deployments and rotations in Poland and South Korea, where he led aviation operations in complex, multinational environments.
Throughout his career, LTC Dawson has held numerous key leadership roles, including three commands: Bakersfield Recruiting Company, the Aviation Warrant Officer Basic Course, and the Aviation Basic Officer Leader Course. He later served as Operations Officer and then Executive Officer for 1-6 Air Cavalry Squadron. His leadership experience now extends beyond aviation into the cyber domain, where he has overseen multidisciplinary teams and managed a portfolio of cutting-edge research initiatives spanning government, academia, and industry.
