MAJ Justin Crews is an instructor (Beginning Modern Standard Arabic) in the Department of English & World Languages at the United States Military Academy (USMA) in West Point, New York.
He graduated from USMA with a bachelor's degree in economics and was commissioned as a quartermaster officer in 2014. He served in the 1-73 Cavalry and 407th Brigade Support Battalion in the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division. Crews then transitioned to Civil Affairs and served in the 96th Civil Affairs Battalion. He deployed as team commander of Civil Military Support Element - Jordan, where he served as an advisor to the Ambassador, U.S. Agency for International Development, and joint special operations task force in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. He then deployed as a civil military operations cell chief to Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia to advise a Navy SEAL Team task force on operations in the Arabian Peninsula.
Crews completed a master's degree in Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Chicago. He lives with his spouse, Samantha Gorewich, and two cats named Winky and Tonks.
