COL Kirk Ingold is a professor of electrical engineering in the Department of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science at the United States Military Academy (USMA). As an USMA academy professor, he served as the director of the Photonics Research Center from 2016-23 and as Electrical Engineering program director from 2023-25.
He deployed twice for assignments to Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, to support theater communications in Southwest Asia from 2010-11, and to Kabul, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Resolute Support in 2016.
COL Ingold is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, a member of the Optical Society of America, and a member of SPIE.
His research interests include nonlinear photonics, high-energy lasers, and optical communications.
