CPT Krystal Onyema is an instructor in the Department of Behavioral Sciences & Leadership (BSL), serving as the OIC for the Class of 1951. She is also associated with the West Point Leadership Center at the United States Military Academy (USMA).
She graduated from USMA with a Bachelor of Science in engineering psychology and earned a Master of Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
CPT Onyema commissioned as an adjutant general officer in 2015. Her first assignment was at Camp Henry, South Korea, where she served as a personnel action center officer in charge in Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 19th Expeditionary Sustainment Command.
From 2016 to 2018, she was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Allied Forces North Battalion, NATO Brigade, at Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe in Mons, Belgium. She served as company executive officer and company commander. Following her time in Europe, she attended the Adjutant General Captains Career Course at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.
In 2019, CPT Onnyema served on the brigade S-1 staff and as the S-1 for 3rd Squadron, 5th Security Force Assistance Brigade at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. After serving as S-1, she attended graduate school at Northwestern University. Her military education includes the Adjutant General Captains Career Course, the Human Resources Plans and Operations Course, and the Adjutant General Officer Basic Leader Course.
Her decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Air Assault Badge, and Korean Defense Service Medal.
