MAJ Kyle Hoffmann is an assistant professor and academic counselor in the Department of Law and Philosophy. He is also a judge advocate in the U.S. Army. MAJ Hoffmann graduated from the University of Mary Washington in 2011 with a bachelor's degree in English, and from Washington & Lee University School of Law in 2014 with his juris doctorate. 

He commissioned in 2015 into the U.S. Army JAG Corps. Before joining the faculty, MAJ Hoffmann served in various roles as a judge advocate, including as a trial counsel (prosecutor) for the 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, TX; operational law attorney, Special Operations Joint Task Force - Afghanistan; Special Victims' Counsel, Fort Lee, VA; Battalion Judge Advocate, 3d Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne), JBLM, WA; Brigade Judge Advocate, 513th Military Intelligence Brigade (Theater), Fort Gordon, GA; and Chief, National Security Law, U.S. Army Cyber Command, Fort Gordon, GA. 

In 2023 he received a Master of Laws from the Judge Advocate General's Legal Center and School in Charlottesville, Virginia, and is admitted to practice in Virginia, the Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
