LTC Kyle Wolfley is an academy professor in the Department of History and War Studies. He graduated from West Point in 2009 and was commissioned as an infantry officer. His first assignment was as a rifle platoon leader and company executive officer, serving in Germany and Afghanistan. Kyle then commanded two companies in the 82nd Airborne Division before attending Cornell University, where he earned a master's degree and doctorate in government. Following graduate school, he joined West Point's Department of Social Sciences as an assistant professor in the International Affairs program.
Following his first teaching assignment, Kyle became an Army Strategist and was the Global Force Management Division Chief and Strategy Branch Chief at U.S. Army Cyber Command. He also served at U.S. Africa Command as a joint operations planner where he led the development of the combatant command's campaign plan. Kyle has published on military power, shaping operations, deterrence, and cyber strategy.
