Dr. Marc E. (Dewey) Boberg, Ph.D., and retired U.S. Army, is the USMA Class of 1969 Chair for the Study of Officership with the Simon Center for the Professional-Military Ethic at the United States Military Academy (USMA).

Born and raised in Anaheim, CA, he graduated from USMA with the Class of 1992, commissioning as an armor officer. He subsequently served for 23+ years on active duty in a variety of leadership and staff positions throughout the United States and abroad in armor, cavalry, and infantry, including multiple deployments to combat in Iraq. 

He served in the 1st Cavalry Division as an M1A1 tank platoon leader, tank battalion support platoon leader, and company executive officer. While assigned to the 2nd Infantry Division, he served as the 1-32 Armor Battalion assistant operations officer and as the A Company commander. After serving as an observer-controller training team chief and completing the Command and General Staff College, he served in 3rd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division as the brigade plans officer, the battalion operations officer for 1-30 Infantry, brigade operations officer, and the brigade executive officer. 

He speaks Spanish fluently and served internationally throughout Latin America, including two years in Chile and two years as an exchange officer at the Venezuelan Army Armor and Cavalry School and multiple shorter operational deployments to Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Mexico, and South Korea. 

Dr. Boberg's academic background is in leadership, leader development, and education. He previously served on the faculty at the Venezuelan Armor and Cavalry School, the former Department of Foreign Languages at USMA, as a department chair at Brigham Young University, as an administrator at Southwestern Community College, North Carolina, and coached/taught in the Center for Enhanced Performance at the U.S. Military Academy Preparatory School.

He holds a B.S. from USMA in leadership studies, an M.S. in management from Troy University, and a doctorate in education leadership from Brigham Young University. 

Over 30 years ago, he married the love of his life, Penni, and they have two awesome children. They live in New Windsor, New York.
