COL Mark D. Federovich

COL Mark Federovich is a native of Fort Rucker, Alabama, and commissioned from George Washington University in 1997, where he earned a bachelor's degree in international affairs. He also holds a master's degree in social-organizational psychology from Columbia University. He is the director of the Department of Military Instruction at the United States Military Academy.
His formative assignments include commander, B Company, 1st Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment; operations officer, 506th Infantry Regiment; commander, 1st Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment; operations officer, 25th Infantry Division; and commander, 1st Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment (Rakkasan).
COL Federovich was also a task force senior maneuver observer/controller/trainer at the Joint Readiness Training Center, task force senior observer/controller/trainer at the National Training Center, and director of the J3 staff at U.S. Indo-Pacific Command. He has deployed across the spectrum of military operations to Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq, and Afghanistan.
His military education includes the NATO Defense College (U.S. Army War College Fellow), the Command and General Staff Officers Course, Advanced Airborne School (Jumpmaster), and Ranger School. Awards include the Combat Infantryman Badge, Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, and Purple Heart.
COL Federovich is married to Carla Federovich. They have been married for 26 years and have two children: Robert, 18, and Kate, 16.
