MAJ Megan Howard is an instructor in the Department of History & War Studies at the United States Military Academy.

The Washington, Georgia, native commissioned from the University of North Georgia in 2014 with a bachelor's degree in international affairs with a Middle East concentration and a minor in Arabic. Her first assignment as a signal officer was with the 304th Expeditionary Signal Battalion at Camp Humphreys, Korea, where she served as a platoon leader and executive officer. She later attended Airborne School in preparation for her next assignment with the 112th Signal Battalion (Special Operations) (Airborne) at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

She deployed to Bagram, Afghanistan, from 2017 to 2018 as part of Operation Resolute Support, serving as the Theater Network Control Center-Afghanistan director for NATO Special Operations Component Command-Afghanistan. As a captain, she served in the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) as the 1st Squadron, 33rd Cavalry Regiment S-6 from 2019 to 2021 and in the Division G-6 as a network officer from 2021 to 2023.

MAJ Howard earned a master’s degree in community and economic development from Penn State University in 2019 and a Master of Arts in history from the University of New Hampshire in 2025. She is currently completing her dissertation on U.S.–Iraqi relations under Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush.
