LTC Shoshannah B.J. Lane, a native of South Jersey, graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1999 and commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Aviation Branch. She holds an M.A. in German from Middlebury College, an M.S. in supply chain management from the University of Kansas, and a Ph.D. in German and second language acquisition from Georgetown University.
She has served in tactical positions in the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized), 25th Infantry Division (Light), and 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), and as the strategic outreach officer for the Chief of Staff of the Army at the Pentagon. Most recently, she commanded the 46th Aviation Support Battalion, 16th Combat Aviation Brigade, 7th Infantry Division. LTC Lane deployed three times to Iraq and Afghanistan in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (2003–04, 2006–07) and Operation Enduring Freedom (2012–13). She currently serves as an Academy Professor (FA47) in the Department of English and World Languages, teaching German.
Her awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Combat Action Badge, Senior Aviator Badge, Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, and German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (Gold).
LTC Lane and her husband, LTC Connie Lane, live at West Point, New York, with their daughter.
