LTC Shoshannah B.J. Lane, Ph.D.

LTC Shoshannah B.J. Lane is an assistant professor teaching German in the Department of English & World Languages at the United States Military Academy (USMA).
The South Jersey native graduated from USMA in 1999 and commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Aviation branch. She holds master's degree in German from Middlebury College, a master's in supply chain management from the University of Kansas, and a doctorate in German and second language acquisition from Georgetown University.
She has served in tactical positions in the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized), 25th Infantry Division (Light), and 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), and as the strategic outreach officer for the Chief of Staff of the Army at the Pentagon. Most recently, she commanded the 46th Aviation Support Battalion, 16th Combat Aviation Brigade, 7th Infantry Division.
LTC Lane deployed three times to Iraq and Afghanistan in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (2003-04, 2006-07) and Operation Enduring Freedom (2012-13).
Her awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Combat Action Badge, Senior Aviator Badge, Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, and German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (Gold).
LTC Lane and her husband, LTC Connie Lane, live at West Point with their daughter.
