MAJ William Choate is a senior instructor of Portuguese in the Department of English & World Languages at the United States Military Academy (USMA) in West Point, New York.

He grew up on a small farm in Ohio and graduated from USMA in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Portuguese. He was commissioned as an armor officer and served at Fort Stewart, Georgia, as a scout platoon leader, and then in Europe as the adjutant to the brigade commander of 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division. In 2017, MAJ Choate became a civil affairs officer and deployed to Colombia in 2019 as a team leader. 

MAJ Choate earned a Master of Arts in Latin American and Caribbean Studies from Florida International University in 2022.
