LTC William North is an assistant professor in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department and director of the Photonics Research Center at the United States Military Academy (USMA) in West Point, New York.
He was commissioned as a second lieutenant signal officer in 2006 through USMA. He began his career serving as a platoon leader and operations officer in the 57th Expeditionary Signal Battalion, where he deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He then assumed the role of provisional commander, followed by HHC commander for the 62nd Expeditionary Signal Battalion.
After obtaining his master’s degree from Stanford University, LTC North served as an assistant professor of electrical engineering at USMA. After transferring to Functional Area 26A, he served as the network systems engineer for the 335th Signal Command (T)(P) at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. After his deployment, he served as the network defense chief for Army Cyber Command.
