West Point Celebrates America's 250th Anniversary
WEST POINT, N.Y. – Come out and celebrate America's 250th anniversary at West Point's Independence Day Celebration on July 4 from 3 to 10 p.m. at Trophy Point. Enjoy a live performance by the West Point Band, family-friendly activities in the Kids Zone, a variety of food trucks, and a spectacular fireworks display to cap off the evening.
The event will include a patriotic program of music honoring our nation’s history, service members, and enduring spirit. Audiences can also experience the West Point Band in their own communities with America 250 run-out concerts featuring the Concert Band, along with a series of run-out performances by the Benny Havens Band, America’s favorite high-energy popular music group.
A historical Army Air Corps flyover honoring America’s 250th is planned with several Commemorative Air Force aircraft flying down the Hudson River from north to south over Trophy Point between 6:30 and 7 p.m. Aircraft confirmed include the B-17 Flying Fortress, B-29 Superfortress, P-51 Mustang, and C-47 Skytrain.
All events are free and open to the public. Attendees should enter through Thayer or Stony Lonesome gates. Proper identification is required upon entering academy grounds and all vehicles are subject to search.
Visitors are reminded that West Point enforces a 25-mph speed limit--please drive safely.
