West Point men’s and women’s team handball win national championship

Army West Point men’s team handball (West Point Black team) won its 14th consecutive USA Team Handball Collegiate National Championship April 10 in Chapel Hill, N.C.

The team went 5-0 in the tournament of 10 teams and defeated Ohio State in the championship game, 31-30. The team finished with a +75 goal differential for the tournament.

Army West Point women’s team handball competed in Collegiate Nationals April 8-10 at the University of North Carolina. To make the finals, the West Point Black (first) beat Ohio State (fourth), and West Point Gold (second) defeated UNC (third) in the semifinals. Then in the finals, West Point Black defeated West Point Gold, 16-15, to win the national championship.

Black team members sophomore Maci Hodgins and juniors Sarah Hollis and Mary Bell and gold team members sophomores Kseniya Farrell and Sarah Fazzolari earned individual awards for their tournament play.

Senior Luke Windish was named to the All-Tournament Team and junior Spencer Knudsen was name Most Valuable Goalie.
