MAJ Andrew Prairie is a PL300 instructor in the Department of Behavioral Sciences & Leadership at West Point. He is also the deputy director of the West Point Leadership Center.

He was born and raised in Balaton, Minnesota, and graduated from high school in Tracy, Minnesota. He enlisted in the Minnesota National Guard in 2010 and attended basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. After graduating from basic training, he attended advanced individual training at Fort Huachuca, Arizona, earning the Military Occupational Specialty of intelligence analyst (35F).

In 2010, he started ROTC at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs and graduated with honors, commissioning as a second lieutenant in May 2013. He then attended and graduated from the Infantry Basic Officer Leader Course at Fort Benning, Georgia. In 2017, he completed the Psychological Operations Qualification Course and Special Operations Language Training.

MAJ Prairie’s assignments include infantry rifle platoon leader, executive officer and battalion logistics officer for 2-23 Infantry at Fort Carson, Colorado. After graduating from the qualification course, he served as a detachment commander in Alpha Company, 8th Psychological Operations Battalion (Airborne), and deployed to Jordan. 

After returning, he was selected to serve as the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 4th Psychological Operations Group, company commander. Following company command, MAJ Prairie attended graduate school at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and earned a master’s degree in business administration.

He is married to Corrina Prairie, and they have two daughters, Sloane and Piper.
