MAJ Joshua Groen

LTC Joshua Groen is an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science (EECS) at the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York.
He graduated with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Arizona State University in 2007 and was commissioned as an armor officer. He served as a platoon leader and executive officer with the 4th Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, in Korea and with the 1st Squadron (Airborne), 40th Cavalry Regiment, in Alaska. He deployed to Afghanistan with the 1-40 Cavalry in, support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
After completing the Functional Area 26A (Network Systems Engineer) qualification course, Groen's next assignment was with the 50th Expeditionary Signal Battalion, where he served as a network systems engineer.
After earning a master's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Groen served as an EECS instructor. He was then assigned to the U.S. Army Regional Cyber Center–Korea, where he served in multiple roles, including senior information systems engineer, theater operations division chief, and senior network engineer.
He completed a doctorate in electrical engineering from Northeastern University, where his research focused on the intersection of wireless communications, machine learning and cybersecurity.
