Colonel Travis S. Tilman is an Academy Professor and the Deputy Director of the Simon Center for the Professional Military Ethic at the United States Military Academy. He currently teaches MX400: Officership, the Superintendent’s capstone course for First Class cadets. At West Point, he has also taught leadership and psychology courses in the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Leadership and served as a Regimental Tactical Officer.

Colonel Tilman previously commanded the 70th Brigade Engineer Battalion “Kodiaks” in Alaska and Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. His other assignments include serving as executive officer and operations officer for the 2nd Engineer Battalion at White Sands Missile Range and as an assistant professor and executive officer at West Point’s Center for Enhanced Performance.

Earlier in his career, he commanded E Company, 1st Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment and deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He has also served with the 1st Cavalry Division’s Engineer Brigade in Baghdad, with Joint Task Force-Bravo in Honduras, and as a platoon leader and company executive officer in the 20th Engineer Battalion.

Originally from Henderson, Nevada, Colonel Tilman is married to Marygrace and they have two children.
