LORETTO, PA. – The Army West Point Women's Basketball team led for over 39 minutes enroute to an 82-50 road win over Saint Francis on Nov. 22 at DeGol Arena.

Army (5-1) had its best shooting game of the season and completely shutdown Saint Francis (0-6) on the defensive end of the court. The Black Knights 52.3 percent shooting clip was their best of the season and their second consecutive game shooting 50 percent or better.

Defensively, Army held Saint Francis to 28.3 percent shooting. It's the worst shooting percentage by an Army opponent this season and the worst since Mount St. Mary (N.Y.) shot 23.3 percent on Dec. 29, 2024.

Army got off to a strong start in the first quarter and never looked back. The Black Knights led 11-7 right before the first media timeout and proceeded to go on a 13-0 run that stretched the final 5:36 of the first quarter and 2:50 of the second. Army led 18-7 after the opening quarter thanks to a ferocious defense that held the Red Flash to 3-12 from the field.

The second quarter continued to see Army play good offense, as it went 7-11 from the field and 3-5 from three in the period. The Black Knights got six points in the quarter from Kya Smith, who registered another strong showing

Going into the halftime break, Army was in complete control, leading 38-21. The 17-point lead is the largest at halftime for Army this season. The team shot 51.7 percent from the field, while limiting Saint Francis to 32.1 percent. Smith had 10 of her 15 points in the opening 20 minutes, while Reese Ericson and Stella Chartrand each had six.

The third quarter was the closest frame of the afternoon, as Army only outscored Saint Francis 23-19.  It was the only quarter that the Red Flash shot 40 percent better, as it sat at 45.5 percent. It was also the highest-scoring quarter for Army, who knocked down 8-12 shots. Camryn Tade erupted for nine points in the period, including a stretch in which she scored seven straight points.

The final 10 minutes saw Army completely dominate on defense, holding Saint Francis to 1-14 from the field. Reganne Reardon had a big offensive quarter, leading the team with six points. Freshman Jane Preston also scored her first collegiate basket in the final minute to put the icing on the cake for Army, who now has five wins before the end of November.
