MAJ Erin Mauldin is an instructor in the International History division of the Department of History. She graduated from the U.S. Military Academy in 2014 and attended Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar. She received a Master of Philosophy in Economic and Social History with a focus on 19th century Afghanistan. In 2016, she transferred to the Infantry and served in the 82nd Airborne Division, Ft. Bragg, NC (known as Ft. Liberty since 2023). There, she was as a rifle platoon leader, executive officer, and battalion assistant S3 and deployed to Afghanistan in 2019 in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel. Her next operational post was Ft. Campbell, KY, where she served as a brigade planner, company commander, and aide-de-camp to the commander of the 101st Airborne Division. She supported Operation Allies Welcome in 2021 to help with the reception of Afghan evacuees and deployed to southeastern Europe for Operation European Assure, Deter, and Reinforce from 2022-2023. When she’s not in the basement of Thayer, Erin enjoys rock climbing, mountaineering, and functional fitness.
