Biography


CPT James Oglesby enlisted in the US Army in 2011 after graduating from the University of California, Santa Barbara. In 2012 CPT Oglesby completed Officer Candidate School and was commissioned as an officer in the Military Police Corps. After commissioning, CPT Oglesby spent 2012-2013 in the United Kingdom on an exchange at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. There he trained with the Royal Army, picking up the game of cricket and learning how to properly polish boots. It was also at Sandhurst that he met his wife, Charlotte Humphreys, with the two of them marrying in December 2017.  

After the UK, he was fortunate enough to be assigned to Stuttgart, Germany, where he served as a Platoon Leader in the 709th Military Police Battalion from 2014 – 2016. In 2018 he was stationed at West Point to command the Military Police Company there until early 2020. After command, CPT Oglesby attended Columbia University in New York City, where he earned a Master of Arts degree in Slavic Cultures. He now serves as a Russian language instructor at the United States Military Academy.
