Biography


MAJ David Lee Simeroth has served as a Research and Developmental Engineer, a Deputy Branch Chief, and is now serving as an Instructor in the Department of Physics and Nuclear Engineering at the United States Military Academy, West Point, NY. He currently teaches three sections of 20 cadets in Physics 201 and is involved in cadet research programs including the Hypersonic Vulnerability Assessment team, and functionally graded 3-D printed ceramic composites project.

MAJ Simeroth graduated from USAFA in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering, with a minor in Foreign Area Studies (German and Russian). While completing his master’s degree at the Air Force Institute of Technology, he developed an aerothermodynamic analysis tool in close collaboration with the National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) strategic ballistic missile team. He then conducted materials research testing as a Developmental Engineer at the Air Force Research Laboratory, High Speed Systems Division, before serving as Deputy Branch Chief of the Hypersonic Sciences Branch. Before his current assignment, MAJ Simeroth was competitively selected for the Secretary of the Air Force’s Prestigious Captain’s STEM PhD Program, where he has completed all but his dissertation for a PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. MAJ Simeroth expects to defend his dissertation and be awarded his PhD in Summer 2024.

MAJ Simeroth is married to Dr. Jennifer (Bennett) Simeroth, a professor in the USMA Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering, and together they have four children, Owen, Hazel, Violet, and Otis. When out of the classroom, he enjoys hiking, playing guitar and piano, woodworking, long distance running, and most of all, playing with his dog and children.
