Biography


MAJ Luis Arauz graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 2010 with a B.S. in French and Spanish. He commissioned as an Armor Officer and served as a Platoon Leader and Troop Executive Officer in both the Republic of Korea and Joint Base Lewis-Mcchord. In 2015 he attended the Civil Affairs Qualification Course to include six months of Indonesian language training. As a Civil Affairs Team Leader he worked as an advisor with the Colombian Navy in Colombia, and in Panama with the Panamanian Border Patrol. In May of 2020 he completed his Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts. MAJ Arauz is now an Instructor of Spanish at West Point. CPT Arauz’s awards and decorations include: The Army Parachutist’s Badge, Army Commendation Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal. MAJ Arauz lives in Highland Falls, New York with his wife Annie and daughter Aida.
