CPT(P) Brian Martinez MX400 Assistant Course Director email@example.com Biography Captain Brian Martinez is a native of Chicago, Illinois. In 2012 he graduated and commissioned through the Loyola University Chicago ROTC program with a BA in Criminal Justice. In 2017 CPT Martinez graduated from Columbus State University with a MS in Organizational Leadership. Captain Martinez commissioned as an Armor Officer, and was assigned to Fort Carson, CO with the 4th Squadron, 10th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division. There he served as Platoon Leader, Executive Officer, and Squadron Personnel Officer (S1) from 2013-2016. During that time he deployed to Jordan in support of Operation SPARTAN SHIELD. After completing the Maneuver Captains Career Course in 2017, CPT Martinez was assigned to Fort Bragg, NC with the 5th Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82ND Airborne Division. There he served as the Squadron Assistant Operations Officer (AS3) until April 2018, a Motorized Cavalry Troop Commander until April 2019, and then as the Headquarters and Headquarters Troop Commander until May 2020. During that time he deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation FREEDOM’S SENTINAL. Captain Martinez's military education includes the Airborne Course, Combatives Level I, Advanced Situational Awareness Course, Armor Basic Officer Leader Course, Ranger School, Army Reconnaissance Course, Unit Movement Officers Course, Maneuver Captains Career Course, Cavalry Leaders Course, Maneuver Leader Maintenance Course, and the Jumpmaster Course. CPT Martinez’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Achievement Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terror Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, Ranger Tab, Meritorious Unit Citation, German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge, and the Parachutist’s Badge. Captain Martinez is married to the former Lorena Mora of Chicago, Illinois. They currently reside in West Point, NY. CPT Martinez is currently the assistant course director for MX400 Officership at the Simon Center for the Professional Military Ethic.
