Biography


Dr. Jessica Libertini currently serves as the Director of the Mathematical Sciences Center at West Point. Her career has spanned government, academia, and industry, and her previous positions include Senior Advisor for International Science and Engineering at the National Science Foundation, Director of Applied Research and Interdisciplinary Professor of Science & Technology + Innovative Futures at Joint Special Operations University at U.S. Special Operations Command, AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellow in the Office of International Cooperation in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Associate Professor of Applied Mathematics at Virginia Military Institute, and Senior Engineer at General Dynamics. Dr. Libertini's research interests are focused on highly complex and interdisciplinary challenges in human security, the social dynamics of the teams required to address those challenges, and educational efforts to increase the cadre of boundary spanners prepared to tackle these challenges. She holds a B.S. in mechanical engineering (Johns Hopkins University), M.S. in mechanical engineering (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute), Sc.M. and Ph.D. in applied mathematics (Brown University), and M.A.S. in international and European security (University of Geneva and the Geneva Centre for Security Policy).
