Biography


Captain Tiarra J. McDaniel is from Centreville, Mississippi. In 2013, she graduated from Alcorn State University located in Lorman, MS. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice. In May 2020, CPT McDaniel graduated from Teachers College, Columbia University with a Master of Arts in Social-Organizational Psychology.

 

CPT McDaniel was branch detailed and commissioned into the Chemical Corps with her basic branch being Adjutant General. She was assigned to Fort Hood, TX with 615th Aviation Support Battalion and 3-227th Assault Helicopter Battalion, 1st Air Cavalry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division. There, she served as a Platoon Leader, Battalion Chemical Officer (S3), and Battalion Human Resources Officer (S1) from 2014-2017.

 

After completing her initial tour at Fort Hood, CPT McDaniel completed the Adjutant General Captain Career Course (AGCCC) in 2013 where she graduated as the Distinguished Honor Graduate and the recipient of the JP Mikula Award. Following AGCCC, CPT McDaniel was selected to serve as the 3rd Infantry Division Task Force Marne S1 from October 2017 until June 2018. From June 2018 until May 2019, she served as the Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division S1.

CPT McDaniel’s military education includes the Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear Basic Officer Leader Course, Operational Radiation Course, Hazardous Material Safety Course, Nuclear Biological Chemical Defense Course, Combatives Level I, the Rear Detachment Leaders Course, and the Adjutant General Captain Career Course.  

 

CPT McDaniel’s awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Achievement Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Army Service Ribbon.

 

CPT McDaniel is married to CPT Alfred McDaniel who is currently serving as a United States Military Academy Preparatory School TAC.  They currently reside in Salisbury Mills, NY with their fourteen-year-old daughter, Miracle, and 19-month-old daughter Milani. CPT McDaniel previously served as an MX400 instructor at the Simon Center for the Professional Military Ethic and is now the Special Assistant to the Commandant for Honor.
