Biography


MAJ Sean Marquis is the assistant course director and instructor for DS320: Intro to Strategic Studies. He is also a Department Academic Counselor (DAC) for Defense and Strategic Studies. MAJ Marquis received his commission through the Army Reserve Officer Training Course at the University of New Hampshire in 2010.

Most recently he served as a Company Commander in the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, at Fort Drum, NY. Previously he served as a Company Executive Officer and Rifle Platoon Leader in the 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA. 

MAJ Marquis holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of New Hampshire and a Master of Arts in International Affairs with a concentration in Security Studies from Boston University’s Pardee School of Global Studies.  His primary research interests include dissident terrorist groups and cybersecurity law.

He is a graduate of the Maneuver Captains Career Course and the Infantry Officers Basic Course. His military education also includes Ranger School, the Basic Airborne Course, and Modern Army Combatives I and II. 

MAJ Marquis’ military awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (with oak leaf cluster), Valorous Unit Award, Parachutists Badge, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, and the Expert Infantryman’s Badge.

MAJ Marquis is a native of Twin Mountain, NH, and is married to the former Katie Sullivan, of Franconia, NH.  Together they have three children, David (5 yrs), James (3 yrs), and Liam (1 yr).
